Project Brief:

This project studies small ruminant production practices(nomadic, transhumant, and sedentary) with the goal of commercializing it. In addition, the current study focuses on goat production enhancement and the business value chain associated with it. This research is being carried out in Lasbela with the argument that the three production systems are practiced in this district. Second, Karachi, which is aligned with the district Lasbela, is a major meat-demander city, therefore, this sector has the potential for development in the livestock and associated business value chain.

Public Policy Relevance:

This research will be relevant and beneficial to public policy for boosting goat production and the accompanying business value chain, with basic goal to enhance goat productivity and its potential and its contribution in livestock sub-sector of agriculture and for local communities’ socio-economic development, food security and poverty alleviation in District Lasbela, Balochistan.
