Ms. Aamena Aly Kamal serves as Member Development Communication at the Planning Commission of Pakistan, bringing over 32 years of leadership in development communications, strategic marketing, and narrative design across public, private, and international sectors. She has led high-impact national programmes and campaigns on digital skills, tourism, youth engagement, gender equality, and crisis communication, reaching over 6 million people across 42 districts.
Her portfolio includes spearheading Pakistan’s first digital census campaign, registering over 1.75 million learners for DigiSkills.pk, and leading global outreach as UNRCO Spokesperson during the 2022 floods. Ms. Kamal is also credited with transforming institutional narratives—most notably for Pakistan International Airlines—achieving earned media value exceeding USD 14 million and a cumulative reach of over 1.2 billion.
She has led six major development communication programmes, influenced national policies on hate speech and voter awareness, and mobilised over 40 partner organisations to drive social impact. Her campaigns have been internationally recognised by the United Nations, MIT, Harvard, and PepsiCo, and her work is taught as a global best practice at MIT.
Ms. Kamal is the founder of a leading women-led digital agency in Pakistan and is a certified Master Trainer in media skills by BBC World Service and Reuters. She is also a regular contributor to national newspapers and a public speaker on strategic communication and narrative development.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree with highest honours in Art and Communication and a Master’s degree in Communication, both from institutions in the United States.
