Project Brief:

Technology irrefutably plays a significant role in economic growth and development. Thus, embracing technological advancements is paramount for Pakistan to stimulate economic growth, resilience, and competitiveness in today’s rapidly evolving world. However, to harness technology for optimal economic growth, there needs to be a comprehensive understanding of the technological landscape and its subsequent implications for Pakistan’s economy. Hence, the current research aims to develop a “Tech Index” for Pakistan, a holistic index reflecting the level of technology sophistication and the country’s standing regarding technology adoption and advancement. Moreover, the research adopts a more comprehensive statistical approach to understand the relationship between technology, market competition, and economic growth in Pakistan. This project also explores how technological adoption impacts the primary sectors of Pakistan’s economy, as they are major contributors to overall economic growth. Therefore, by constructing and examining key statistical indicators and trends, the research offers valuable insights and actionable recommendations for policymakers, businesses, and stakeholders to foster innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable growth in the technology sector and beyond.

 Public Policy Relevance:

this research will directly contribute to the evidence-based policies needed for technology prefoliation for development. By addressing key aspects of technology, competition, and growth, the study aligns with the government’s strategic goals and provides actionable insights to policymakers seeking to navigate the complexities of a technology-driven economy.
