Project Brief:

This study aims to investigate the potential of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Pakistan’s construction sector, focusing on commercial and housing initiatives in Faisalabad City. The
study addresses the rapid urbanization and housing demands by proposing urban redevelopment projects utilizing government lands through PPPs. The selection of suitable city parcels will be
executed via Multi-Attribute Utility Analysis (MAUA). The study proposes, strategically allocating floors for commercial, institutional, and residential purposes while integrating urban
agriculture and solar energy capture into high-rise building designs. Financial viability will be assessed through Discounted Cash Flow Analysis (DCF), emphasizing economic sustainability.
This approach aligns with global urban development trends, leveraging private sector resources to tackle urban challenges.

Public Policy Relevance:

This research project has a significant public policy relevance by offering crucial insights into urban development strategies through public-private partnerships (PPPs). Understanding the effectiveness and impact of PPPs in sustainable city regeneration can inform policymakers and urban planners about successful approaches for redefining the urban spaces. This study will propose some viable public policy measures to level the ground for public-private partnership in urban redevelopment programs. Additionally, by identifying deficiencies in existing land use policies or master plans, this research can provide valuable recommendations for policymakers to enhance regulations and frameworks, thereby fostering more resilient and inclusive urban environments aligned with broader societal goals.
