Dr. Murtaza Haider is the Executive Director of the Cities Institute, Radhe Krishna Gupta Executive Chair in Cities and Communities, and Professor at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, Canada. He is the author of Real Estate Markets: An Introduction (2020) and Getting Started with Data Science: Making Sense of Data with Analytics (2016).

His research interests span business analytics, data science, housing market dynamics, transport and infrastructure planning, urban development, and human development in Canada and South Asia.

Dr. Haider is also a syndicated columnist with Postmedia. His weekly column on real estate markets appears nationally in The Financial Post and in leading newspapers including the Ottawa CitizenVancouver SunCalgary HeraldEdmonton Sun, and Montreal Gazette. He also contributes occasionally to The Globe and Mail and The Toronto Star.
