Project Brief:
This study investigates how the gig economy can provide expanded employment opportunities and enhance well-being for individuals with disabilities. Traditional work models often impose significant limitations on people with impairments, jeopardizing their participation in the labor market. Gig work, characterized by its flexibility and autonomy, is emerging as a promising solution to overcome these barriers. The research aims to assess the impact of gig work on the inclusiveness of employment, explore its relationship with the well-being of workers with disabilities, and identify the unique challenges they may encounter within the gig economy. Additionally, the study examines policies and support initiatives that could improve access to gig employment for individuals with disabilities. By leveraging recent empirical studies and survey data, this research will provide concrete recommendations for integrating gig work into inclusive employment strategies. Ultimately, the findings will contribute to a better understanding of how gig work can be designed to foster a truly welcoming and supportive form of employment.
Public Policy Relevance:
This research seeks to optimize inclusion and well-being for people with disabilities through gig work. The findings and policy recommendations will be essential for developing inclusive management practices in future labor market research. Key points reflecting the public policy relevance include: – A deeper understanding of the role of gig work in promoting employment inclusivity and well-being for individuals with disabilities. – Identification of the challenges and benefits of gig work for this population. – Policy recommendations for creating support mechanisms for gig workers with disabilities.
