Project Brief:
The study explores the complex dynamics and governance issues in Balochistan, Pakistan’s most resource-rich yet politically volatile province. This research examines how ideologically diverse and regionally fragmented political parties within coalition governments impact governance effectiveness in the province. It highlights several key issues, including policy discontinuity and inadequate service delivery.
Public Policy Relevance:
The significance of this study is crucial for public policy, as it identifies structural and institutional challenges that hinder effective governance in coalition-led governments. It highlights how fragmented political mandates and unstable alliances contribute to policy paralysis, misgovernance, and limited accountability. The findings will offer valuable insights for policymakers aiming to design more resilient governance frameworks. These frameworks should include mechanisms for strengthening coalition management, promoting political stability, and ensuring policy continuity.
The project aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and reformers to improve coordination among coalition partners. These suggestions will assist legislators in aligning political agendas with development goals in the multi-ethnic and politically diverse province of Balochistan. Ultimately, this research can contribute to broader discussions on democratic consolidation, power devolution, and institutional reform within Pakistan’s federal structure.
