Rafique Ahmed Chandio

Dr. Chandio is a seasoned academic, policy expert, and independent consultant with over 27 years of experience spanning academia, public service, and international development. His expertise lies in disaster risk reduction, climate change economics, and food security.

He has held key positions including Director General at Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the Sindh Government’s Planning and Development Department. His work has involved close collaboration with FAO and other stakeholders to build institutional capacity across sectors like agriculture, irrigation, climate change, and environment.

In academia, he has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics, University of Sindh, Director of multiple research centers, and Director Administration (Technical) at the US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USAID-funded). He has led numerous national and international projects, including studies on zoonotic disease and food insecurity, with publications under review by the Cambridge Research Group. He has also worked as a consultant for organizations such as UNDP, USAID, UNICEF, DFID, OXFAM, and Handicap International, offering expertise in project and grants management, policy research, stakeholder coordination, and institutional development.
